Deepest gratitude to Master Lu
My name is Cai Zhi Wei and I am from Singapore.
If my sharing today is improper in any way, may Guan Yin Bodhisattva and all Dharma Protectors forgive me.
In 2018, I encountered Guan Yin Citta through Facebook and attended the Singapore Dharma Convention. Guan Yin Bodhisattva touched me through that grand convention. I obtained the Buddhism in Plain Terms texts and a Buddhist scripture booklet and started to learn how to recite Buddhist scriptures.
This learning process is still ongoing. During the Singapore Dharma Convention in 2019, I became a volunteer. It was a blissful experience.
On 12 November 2019, my elder brother had a sudden eruption of karmic obstacles. He suffered from stroke. The doctors said that his condition on one half of his body did not look positive and a brain surgery was recommended to stem a hemorrhage.
I prayed to Guan Yin Bodhisattva immediately and performed life liberation on the behalf of my brother, praying that Guan Yin Bodhisattva will compassionately protect and bless him and prolong his lifespan. I vowed to be steadfast in my faith in Buddhism and perform recitation for him.
On 14 November, I asked Buddhist friends in China to perform life liberation of 500 fishes on behalf of my brother. I prayed to Bodhisattva to protect and bless him with good health and help him to dispel calamities.
At that time, my brother was suffering from difficulty in speaking. His head hurt, was unable to walk steadily and most of his left body was immobile.
I asked him to quickly recite Buddhist scriptures especially the Great Compassion Mantra.
I saw a Facebook post where Master Lu gave a discourse about the significance of releasing 49 turtles as it is a number that may help one in the extension of lifespan and overcome karmic passes. When one is going through a year with predestined calamity, they may also make a vow to liberate 1200 fishes as this is a cardinal number that can change one’s fate and destiny.
After learning this, I immediately made the necessary arrangements
On 18 November: I liberated 1200 fishes
19 November: I liberated 49 turtles
20 November: I offered incense and prayed to Bodhisattva to transfer 30% of my merits from volunteering at the 2019 Singapore Dharma Convention to my brother
25 November: once again, I liberated 49 turtles
Subsequently, my brother started to show signs of improvement as a result of reciting Buddhist scriptures.
Deepest gratitude to Master Lu’s discourse, allowing me to understand that meritorious blessings can save a life in times when one experience predestined calamities.
Deepest gratitude to Guan Yin Bodhisattva for answering all prayers. My brother does not need to undergo surgery anymore and is able to move like a normal person. He is 80% recovered and does not require any assistance from us anymore.
His speech has also returned to normal and is speedily regaining his health.
Now, he is just like any other normal person.
I believe that Guan Yin Bodhisattva can really hear my prayers. Although I am just a beginner and still cannot perform Buddhist scriptures very smoothly, Guan Yin Bodhisattva really answers all prayers!
On 30 November 2019, my brother was discharged from the hospital. On 5 December 2019, my brother made a vow at the practice centre to liberate 2000 fishes within a year, continue to perform recitation, will not consume life seafood and will be a full vegetarian for at least two days a month.
On 9 December 2019, my brother went to the hospital for a check up. The doctor found that there was no further bleeding and surgery was not required. We were overwhelmed with dharma bliss.
