On 11 August 2019, Guan Yin Citta (Singapore) held yet another fortnightly English Sharing Session at the practice centre featuring many inspiring and enriching items on the lineup.

The sharing featured timely reminders on what we should be aware of during the Ullambana Festival. The festival leads up to the 15th day of the 7th lunar month, or 15 August 2019 In addition to the usual reminders about reciting a greater number of the Great Compassion Mantra and Little Houses to ensure good health and safety during this period, the sharing also provided greater cultural context by sharing a historical anecdote. The story of how Mulian rescues his mother from the underworld speaks of filial piety and compassion as venerated virtues, revealing a deeper meaning behind this festival that goes beyond shallow rituals and superstition.

Through another lighthearted story about the portrait of Thief, the moral lesson that we always reap what we sow resonated deeply within the hearts of audience members. In line with this, the sharing also enlightened about 8 ways to discern between kindness and evil of one’s character. With this seemingly unprofound sharing, audience members were guided to introspect upon whether they have truly displayed their innate Buddha natures in their daily actions, sparking meaningful dialogue amidst smiles.

Finally, a Buddhist friend shared about how Guan Yin Citta allowed her to find her spiritual abode. Along her two year journey of spiritual cultivation, she has understood truths about the meaning of life, firmly believe in the law of causality and gained a second chance at living.

If you wish to understand more about Master Lu’s latest discourses, learn to apply Buddhist teachings into our everyday lives, imbibe yourself with more positive energy and blessings from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, we welcome you! Join us in the next English Sharing Session to embark on a wondrous expedition of wisdom and positivity!
