On 28 November 2020, Guan Yin Citta, Singapore held another online English Group Study.  

Today’s session elaborated on everything you need to know about short sutras/mantras, focusing on the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots, Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou and the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan

Through today’s practical and enlightening session, participants found out that this Buddhist scripture can help in many areas: from improving skin disease to resolving extramarital affairs.

Through a touching sharing by a fellow practitioner, Buddhist friends learnt that amid these uncertain times, diligent recitation of this Buddhist scripture is paramount as it may allow one to disperse calamities and boost immunity.

? Did you know that the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan can enable you to “freeze” wrongdoings?
Through lively discussion from the floor, attendees deepened their knowledge of this scripture, understanding that recitation of this scripture should be performed when one uses unwholesome speech and commits unintentional or minor wrongdoings.

Through the session, I learnt a lot more about the “Emergency Code 7829”, it is very useful since the Buddhist scriptures are familiar to many Guan Yin Citta practitioners. If I am ever feeling lost I will definitely recite this special combination!”

I remember that Master Lu has mentioned that if we wait too long to repent for our karmic obstacles, it will accumulate and gather more “interest” like our debts for a bank loan. UNDERSTANDING CONFLICTS IN RELATIONSHIPS 

The first type of couple, their relationship is founded upon kindness and positive karma in their past life. Hence they have a joyous relationship.

Another type of couple are the ones who got together because of grievances and negative karma. Such couples will have many conflicts; not only that, they will always find themselves to be entangled in worries and bitterness.

The third type is a more neutral type of relationship – they were formed neither from positive nor negative affinities. In other words, the couple were not too good nor too bad to each other in their past life. Such a couple got together because of both gratitude and grudges. They tend to experience the vicissitudes of life through their marriage.

Caller: Master, how should I perform recitation if someone is jealous of me?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots.

“Wo Jin Wei Ru Jie Jin Za, Zhong Bu Wei Ru Jie Jin Za” (“我今为汝解金匝,终不为汝结金匝”).

You should recite the scripture incessantly with this verse in mind, which means: “Today, I shall untie the karmic knots between us and I shall cease all karmic grievances with you for eternity.”

As for the verse: “Xiang Zhong Xiang, Ji Zhong Ji” (“祥中祥,吉中吉”), it means “May there be more auspiciousness within auspiciousness.”

If you can understand the meaning of what you are reciting, and relate to them in your recitation, reciting the scripture once is more efficacious than reciting it 10 times.

Many people fit the saying, ‘small monks recite Buddhist scriptures from their tongues not their hearts’ and they wonder why their recitation of the mantra has not been effective after so long.

That’s because you don’t put your heart into your recitation. There is an underlying meaning in this mantra that contains the Bodhisattva’s messages in simple terms. Many people don’t understand that the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots contains many truly meaningful messages.

The Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou and the Cundi Dharani  (Zhun Ti Shen Zhou) form part of the Ten Short Sutras/Mantras. The positive effects will come to bear if one recites them slowly.

Do you know the meaning of
“An, Chi Ling Jin Za Jin Za Sheng Jin Za” (“唵, 齿令金匝金匝胜金匝”)?
It means that the fights in the human realm never cease, putting humans in an endless cycle of rebirth.

“Wo Jin Wei Ru Jie Jin Za” (“我今为汝解金匝”), means:
“From today onwards, I will eliminate my karmic conflicts with you so that we can exterminate our cycle of rebirth.”

“Zhong Bu Wei Ru Jie Jin Za” (“终不为汝结金匝”) means:
“I shall cease all karmic grievances and eliminate the negative affinities between us for eternity.”

“Xiang Zhong Xiang, Ji Zhong Ji” (“祥中祥,吉中吉”) means that more auspiciousness lies within auspiciousness, and good fortunes lie within good fortunes. This essentially means auspiciousness builds on auspiciousness. This is akin to saying, “I’m sorry. We will get better onwards”.

Do you know the meaning of “Bo Luo Hui Shang You Zhu Li”
(“波罗会上有珠琍”)?

“Zhu Li” is the “bright spot” (光亮点) that emerges from wisdom; the brightness of the Buddha. One shall harness Buddha’s light to quell the karmic grievances and turn them into auspiciousness — “Yi Qie Yuan Jia Hua Ji Xiang” (“一切冤家化吉祥”), which means transforming all karmic foes into auspiciousness.

Followed by, “Mo He Bo Re Bo Luo Mi” (“摩诃般若般罗密”).

Caller: Master, what should we do if we don’t want another person who is karmically indebted to us to repay their karmic dues to us? (别人欠你的,不要他还)

Master Jun Hong Lu: If this is the case, you need to recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou). 

Caller: Master, you had previously highlighted the potential challenges in my career where some troublemakers would make things difficult for me. Since then, on a daily basis, I have been reciting 49 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots for which my prayer request is “Please help resolve the karmic conflicts in my career” (化解事业上的冤结). Is this the correct approach, Master?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, it is.

MAKING THE VOW TO RECITE 10,000 TIMES OF THE MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS TO RESOLVE ONE’S PREDESTINED “3,6,9” PASSES CAN BE UNIVERSALLY APPLIED

Caller: In a recent radio program, Master Lu advised a Buddhist practitioner to make a vow to recite 10,000 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou) to resolve his “3,6,9” predestined calamities. Some of us are interested to know whether this approach can be universally applied. 

Master Jun Hong Lu: This approach can be adopted by all. When faced with any critical karmic pass that requires more recitations of these mantras, you must make a vow to recite 10,000 times.

Caller: I see. The reason I asked was because we have the impression that the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots is to resolve negative karmic affinities. But, in the aforementioned case, it was to quell the “3,6,9” predestined calamities of this Buddhist friend.

Master Jun Hong Lu: It’s the same as it has to do with the existence of grievances (冤结)during this period. 

Caller: I understand now. Master, when should we start to recite then? We were advised previously that the recitation of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou should commence three months prior to the start of one’s “3,6,9” predestined calamities period. What about the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Just keep reciting the mantra.

Caller: You mean we should recite the mantra throughout the year?

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s correct.

Caller: Alright, Master. Is it correct to say that once the vow is made, one should just continuously recite without restricting to a specific number of recitations on a daily basis

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s correct!  

 

< Circumstances that Require the Recitation of Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (iii): To Resolve Marital Problem >

Note: The following is an example of the correct application of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots in resolving marital problems.

Caller: One of the questions brought up during the 8th April Dharma Convention Q&A session was, how should one recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots if one’s husband is involved in an extra-marital affair.

Caller: Master Lu, your advice to us was that the wife should not recite the mantra for her husband and the third party. You explained to us,  if the wife is to recite for each and everyone of the husband’s “affair”, there will be no end to it. Instead, you said the wife should only recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots between herself and her husband. Does it mean that, generally speaking, when a man is involved in an extra-marital affair, there is no need for the wife to perform recitation for the husband and the third party?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Generally, one should not recite for the third party as you have no idea whether their affinity is positive or negative in nature (恶缘还是善缘). The wife will stand a better chance to have her husband come back to her if she focuses her effort in resolving her negative affinity with him.

Otherwise, if she recites this mantra for her husband and the other woman, and if their karmic affinity happen to be negative in nature (恶缘), they may even “patch up” (好起来). You do know that two people may get together because of the negative affinity between them, don’t you? 

Caller: I understand now.

 

 

< Circumstances that Require the Recitation of Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (iv): To avoid Multiple Illnesses >

SEPARATE VOWS (100,000 TIMES OF Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou) NEED TO BE MADE WHEN TARGETING MULTIPLE ILLNESSES

Caller: Master has said this before: To cure chronic diseases or complicated health problems, one can make a vow to recite 100,000 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou). I’d like to ask in the case of a Buddhist friend who suffers from various illnesses, is it alright for him to make one single vow? Or would it be better to make separate vows targeting each specific health issue?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Typically, our vow should be targeted and specific. It works better if you can make one vow for each illness.

It’s impossible to cure all health problems with merely one single vow.

Caller: Master has said this before: One can recite 100,000 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou) to resolve Alzheimer‘s disease (老年痴呆症). The following prayer request may be made: “Please help me eliminate the risk of developing senile depression in the later part of my life.” I’d like to ask if this recommendation is unique to thiscase or it can be adopted universally?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It can be adopted by all. 

Caller: At what age should one start reciting this mantra as a preventive measure

Master Jun Hong Lu: Any age will do.

Question: If a person has made a vow to recite 10,000 times of Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots, is it necessary for him to fulfill the vow all by himself? To illustrate, if both husband and wife are Buddhist practitioners, can they accomplish the aforementioned vow together?

Answer: It can be jointly recited by the couple.

STATE SPECIFIC PRAYER REQUEST WHEN YOU VOW TO RECITE 10,000 TIMES MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS (JIE JIE ZHOU)

Question: Recently many Buddhist practitioners have made vows to recite 10,000 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots, praying to resolve the karmic conflicts of a specific matter.  (Yes) If a 13-year-old child is willing to recite 10,000 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots, by reciting the mantra 49 or 108 times every day, could he do so without making any specific prayer request?

Answer: It is best not to do so.  If you want to recite 10,000 times, then perhaps you can make a great vow to resolve a specific matter, which is fine because it serves a specific purpose. However, if you recite this amount without a specific prayer request, it won’t solve the problems. Remember this, there must be a targeted purpose when making a vow to recite 10,000 times of the mantra.  

For example, you cannot get along with a colleague and you say, “Guan Yin Bodhisattva, I make a vow to recite 10,000 times of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots to resolve my karmic conflicts with him”.  Very soon, upon completing the recitations, your karmic conflicts with him will be resolved. 

If you recite this 10,000 times without any specific purpose, let me tell you, you might not be able to retain the merits gained through your recitation.  Do you understand?

Caller: Ok, I understand now.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF BOTH WIFE AND THE THIRD PARTY IN A MARRIAGE RECITE THE MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS

Caller: I heard on the radio program that there are many ladies whose husbands are having extra marital affairs and you advised them to recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie JieZhou).  However, if the caller that day is the third party, then how does it work? In the event that both the third party and the wife recite this mantra, what effect will it have?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It is very simple. It shows that the man has karmic knots with the two women concerned. Even though you may be the first wife, if your karmic affinity (缘分) with this man has ended and if you recite the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots (Jie Jie Zhou) the relationship will end without much dispute.

As for the second woman, once she sets her eyes on your husband, and she recites the mantra, if her positive karmic affinity with your husband prevails, her relationship with your husband will go on. 

In this case, you will have to bid this relationship good-bye. The relationship with the first wife will then come to an end.

We have no choice. This is a natural phenomenon.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many people going through second marriages. This is also a fact, something that could not be avoided. 

Your karmic affinity with the other party is “limited” and has come to an end. Instead of insisting on pursuing this relationship against all odds, you should have treated him better throughout your previous life!  You dumped him back then and that’s why he is doing the same to you in this life.  This is what karmic affinity is all about.

Caller:  That means, it all depends on how strong your karmic affinity (缘分) is with the person, regardless of which party is reciting the said mantra.

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right. Think about it. The divorce rate is as high as 50% – 52%. It’s alarming. There are some who say, “I don’t want to leave him, but he wants to leave me”. It is all about karmic affinity (缘分).  Back then, when he was treating you well, you should have worked on prolonging the good karmic affinity.  Why didn’t you cherish?

Why did you mistreat him at your whims and fancies? Furthermore, it could also be that your karmic affinity (缘分)with him in your previous life could only last until this stage. This is typical human nature, they are unaware when they are sowing the seeds of karma, but only begin to fear when the deeds they sow bear fruits.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS (JIE JIE ZHOU) AND LITTLE HOUSES TO  RESOLVE KARMIC CONFLICTS 化解冤结小房子 

Caller: Master Lu, may I know what’s the difference between the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots and Little Houses To Resolve Karmic Conflicts? 

Master Jun Hong Lu: The Little House is a combination of four Buddhist scriptures (经文的组合) and is powerful in resolving karmic conflicts.

First, the Great Compassion Mantra (Da Bei Zhou) gives the reciter and the other party the positive energy and quells the karmic conflicts.

Second, the Heart Sutra (Xin Jing) helps one gain wisdom on top of resolving ones negative karmic affinity with the other party.

Third, Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan (七佛灭罪真言) helps you and the other party to repent.

Finally, the Amitabha Pure Land Rebirth Mantra (Wang Sheng Zhou) (往生咒) serves the purpose for one to repent all past and present wrongdoings

In the latter, the term “Wang Sheng”往生 is not restricted to describing the passing on of an animal. It can also mean the “reborn” of a person’s soul. For instance, some people may say, “In the past, I was as if dead and now it felt like I was reborn”. In reality, this is what the term “to be reborn” (往生) means. This combination of Buddhist scriptures is definitely much more effective than the mere recitation of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots

What’s the essence of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots? When the interpersonal energy field is at odd (人跟人之间的气场不和), when there is conflicting views 矛盾 or troubles, the recitation of the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots will help us overcome them.

Caller: Master, does it mean that we should solely focus on reciting more of the Little Houses to Resolve Karmic Conflicts and stop chanting the Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots or is it more effective to do both together? 

Master Jun Hong Lu: It’s better to do both. The Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots is to address interpersonal karmic conflicts. It would be more effective if you supplement this with Little Houses. 

Caller: It is like the icing on the cake. (锦上添花). 

Master Jun Hong Lu: Let me reiterate an example that I have mentioned before: You crash into someone and injure the person owing to your recklessness. The Mantra to Untie Karmic Knots is equivalent to saying, “I’m really sorry about this. It was my fault.” By offering Little Houses, you are essentially compensating him for his medical and nursing expenses. The karmic conflict will not get resolved by mere apologies without making any compensation.

Caller:  Master, you mentioned that we should recite more of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou this year. May I know what is an appropriate amount to be recited in general?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  108 times daily

INCREASE THE RECITATION OF THE XIAO ZAI JI XIANG SHEN ZHOU DURING THE FIRST LUNAR MONTH  

Caller: How are you Master Lu? You mentioned that one should recite 49 times of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou daily in the first month of the lunar calendar. I’d like to ask whether this recitation can be counted as part of one’s daily homework or should it be considered as an add-on? 

Master Jun Hong Lu: Let me repeat what I have said several years ago: By increasing the number of recitations of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou in the first lunar month will ensure a safe and peaceful year ahead (一年平安).  

Like I said before, “Spring sets the tone for the rest of year” and “Morning sets the tone for the rest of the day” (一年之计在于春, 一日之计在于晨). Similarly, there is a belief that a peaceful first day of the Chinese New Year augurs well for the rest of the year. As such, one who recites the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou in the first lunar month will have an auspicious and calamity-free year ahead. (会消灾、会吉祥) 

 

Caller: Does it mean that we should increase the recitation of this mantra over and above our daily fixed recitation amount of 49 times, forexample. That means, during the first lunar month we may recite up to 78 times?

Master Jun Hong Lu: You may increase it to 80 odd times. In any case, 78 times are fine too. 

Caller: What about 108 times? 

Master Jun Hong Lu: That works as well.

MAKING A VOW TO RECITE 10,000 TIMES OF XIAO ZAI JI XIANG SHEN ZHOU IN THE YEAR WHERE ONE EXPERIENCES THE 3, 6, 9 PREDESTINED CALAMITIES HAS GREATER EFFECT

Caller: Master Lu, you mentioned before that, three months prior to our birthday (in the year where the last digit of our age ends with “3, 6 or 9”, we should recite on a daily basis three batches of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou with 2 batches to be dotted on the Self-Cultivation Record Form (自修经文), all of which to be offered on the actual birthday. This will help eliminate a major predestined calamity.

Caller: My question is, now we are advised to make great vows to recite 10,000 times of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou. May I know which method is better?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Making a vow to recite 10,000 times is better. 

 

< Circumstances that Require the Recitation of Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou (iii): When there is “3, 6, 9” Predestined Calamities > 
Master Jun Hong Lu‘s Discourse (Question 133) – 5 November 2016 

Question: In the year where one’s age ends with the digit 3, 6 or 9, Master Lu has advised before that they may recite up to three batches (108 times each batch) of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou three months prior to their birthday in order to ward off predestined calamities.

In this case, one batch can be treated as part of one’s daily recitation homework, while the other two batches can be dotted on the Self-Cultivation Record Form (自修经文). I’d like to ask whether it’s alright to recite three batches of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou daily without having to dot on the Self-Cultivation Record Form?   

Answer: It’s best to recite one batch as daily recitation, and the other two using the Self-Cultivation Form and to burn the latter on one’s birthday. 

Question: Is it alright to start the Self-Cultivation recitations some six months prior to one’s birthday?

Answer: No. The recitation for Self-Cultivation purposes can only commence three months before one’s birthday. During these three months, one can recite up to three batches of the mantra. One batch is meant for daily recitation homework, while the other two are for Self-Cultivation. Outside this period, one is encouraged to recite more of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou as part of their daily recitation – typically, not exceeding 108 times daily.

Question: Is it alright to burn the Self-Cultivation Record Form of the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou in the absence of an altar?

Answer: It’s alright to do so before dark.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, definitely, it’s pretty normal. If you are free from calamities (消灾), wouldn’t that make you a healthy person? Conversely, if you are stricken by calamities, don’t you think it will take its toll on your health? 

Caller: True. Can everyone make the same prayer request? Or does it just apply to this Buddhist practitioner?  

Master Jun Hong Lu: It’s applicable to all.

PAIR XIAO ZAI JI XIANG SHEN ZHOU WITH THE RECITATION OF MANTRA TO UNTIE KARMIC KNOTS; AT LEAST 1,000 LITTLE HOUSES IS NEEDED TO GET THROUGH MAJOR KARMIC PASSES 

Caller: A Buddhist practitioner dreamt that she was standing on top of a high wall with her husband and son. They wanted to reach the other end of the wall. Her son was standing in front of her, while her husband was at the back. Due to her carelessness, her son started walking off and he fell off the wall landing head-first to the ground. Her husband hurried to check on their son and found him dead. She was unmoved to learn about her son’s death nor did she cry.

It was only when making arrangements for her son’s funeral that she started sobbing. Her son was about three to four year old in the dream. In reality, her son is twenty-seven years old. Her husband was very attentive to him since young and whenever their son falls down she would get a scolding from him. She has severe karmic conflict with her son and he often fights her. Master, please help us to interpret this dream. 

Master Jun Hong Lu: If karmic conflict is present in real life, it will be reflected in the dream, regardless of the types of dreams you have. Recite Mantra To Untie Karmic Knots (JieJie Zhou) to resolve karmic conflict, and the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou too. Please remember, when I ask you to recite Mantra To Untie Karmic Knots (JieJie Zhou), you must pair it with the Xiao Zai Ji Xiang Shen Zhou. The reason is, when there is karmic conflict, calamity may strike if you are not careful.

Caller: Understand. Her son died in the dream, does it mean something might happen to her son?

Master Jun Hong Lu: They must take precaution against an impending karmic pass, as this is an early warning.

Caller: How many Little Houses should they recite, approximately?

Master Jun Hong Lu: There are a lot to recite in this kind of cases, at least 1,080 pieces……

Caller: Ok.

Master Jun Hong Lu: To get through a major karmic pass, one needs to recite at least 1,000 Little Houses.

Caller: Is this applicable in general?

Master Jun Hong Lu: This is for major karmic passes, I am referring to those life-threatening ones not minor karmic passes.

Master Jun Hong Lu: The Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan is a mantra of seven Buddhas who oversee your wrongdoings in the human realm.

When you recite this mantra, you greet these seven main Bodhisattvas in-charge (七位主要负责的菩萨) before you go on to seek forgiveness from all the rest of the Bodhisattvas. This will help you eliminate a lot of karmic obstacles (业就会消掉很多).

RECITE Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan UPON COMMITTING MINOR MISDEEDS

Caller: Master Lu, if we recite the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan as soon as we realized we have given rise to unwholesome thoughts or speech, are we able to eliminate entirely the karmic obstacles generated (业障全部消除)? Can we recite this mantra every night before going to bed to eliminate the misdeeds that we might have committed through our action, speech and thoughts? 

Master Jun Hong Lu: It cannot be eliminated entirely. However, you may recite some immediately after a misdeed. When you do that, it is  like “freezing” the matter and admitting that you are wrong. Ultimately, you would still need to recite the Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance (LIFO) to deal with it. The recitation of Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan is to “freeze” the matter and prevent the bad seed from proliferating indefinitely (不好的种子不要让它蔓延、长大). Do you understand?

Caller: There are some new practitioners who are used to some pet phrases (口头语) in their speech which may include some swear words (脏话). Will this affect their quality of chanting as they may need some time to change the way they speak. 

Master Jun Hong Lu: It will. If he uttered the word haphazardly and happened to be witnessed by the Dharma Protectors (护法神), he is considered to have sinned gravely.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Instead, if his utterance was accidental and out of anger because he was bullied or deceived by others, the Dharma Protector may give him a chance and forgive him.

One should recite 49 times of the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan on the spot as soon as these words are uttered. One swear word requires the recitation of 49 times of the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan

Caller: Will it affect the status of their lotuses?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It should not, but again, it depends on how diligent he is generally.  Here you are reciting the sacred name of Amitabha Buddha but on the other hand you are speaking some foul languages. Are you kidding! How can you do that?

Question: A Buddhist practitioner suffers from bad digestion. Sometimes, when he works on the computer next to the Buddhist altar, he may accidentally give rise to flatulence (放屁). May I know how he should apologize to the Bodhisattva?

Answer: Since it is something that is out of his control, he may just tell Bodhisattva and proceed to recite the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan.

Answer: There are two types of mistakes, the intentional and the non-intentional ones. In this case, it is something that is beyond his control,hence, the karma is not major. Bodhisattva will not blame him.

If he feels that the smell is too strong and may affect the Buddhist altar, he may recite seven times of the Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan. Just state his prayer request as, “May the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva forgive me”.

As for major ones, one must recite the Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance (LIFO) whereby one needs to seek forgiveness for the evil karma created.
