HOW MANY FISHES ARE CONSIDERED LARGE QUANTITY IN TERMS OF LIFE LIBERATION?
Q: When we are releasing fishes, what amount is considered to be ‘large’? One of our Buddhist practitioners dreamed that he was making a vow to Guan Yin Bodhisattva to perform Life Liberation in large quantities for his mother once a year. After he woke up, he realised that he is unclear about the idea of Life Liberation in large quantities. If I remember correctly, Master Lu once mentioned that it should be at least 500 fishes. Is that correct?
A: Yes, at least 500 fishes, and preferably more than 1,000 fishes.
