SACRIFICE OURSELVES FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS

Master Jun Hong Lu: As Buddhist practitioners, we must recognise that life is more than eating good food, sleeping in a comfortable bed, or having a stable job – life is more than just repeating mundane tasks in order to acquire money to sustain our lifestyle. The greatness of human beings is in our ability to create and live a life to serve other sentient beings; as serving others is what makes them great. Hence, we must relinquish the smallness of self in order to serve the broader collective, to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of others, learning from the spirit of Guan Yin Bodhisattva who responds to every plea. In all things, care not about fulfilling the insignificant personal wishes. Instead, pray only for the liberation of sentient beings.
