MOVE SIDEWAYS
Master Jun Hong Lu: An elderly Buddhist monk once asked a novice, “If taking a step forward or backward both spell death, what would you do?” Without hesitation, the novice replied, ‘I shall move sideways.’ The idea to be gained from this story is that a side road is another path one can take. Hence, when a path is filled with hindrances, it may not be necessary for us to continue treading upon it until night falls. When we see no hope on the path we are on, move sideways. This is a widely known theory. However, many people living in this complex world are still drawn into a swamp, as we have forgotten this notion in the midst of our confusion.
