CONSTANT COMPLIANCE WITH THE NEEDS OF SENTIENT BEINGS IS AN EXPEDIENT WAY TO ENLIGHTEN THEM

Master Jun Hong Lu: “To be constantly complying with the needs of sentient beings” when guiding them to learn Buddhism, means we need to be extremely patient in our effort to enlighten sentient beings; we should help them with loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity.

For example, this person is so fond of talking and in order to introduce the dharma to her, I must first learn the art of speaking. Only through ‘according with the conditions’ of others can we be successful in helping them. Just like me now, I am constantly complying with sentient beings’ needs in my endeavour to help them.

For example, nowadays people are interested in health, career, how to lead a safe and peaceful life, and have successful business ventures. To help them, I will accede to their requests. By the time everything is going smoothly for them, hopefully, their state of mind would have been elevated and they will begin to thrive in the wisdom of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. They will then naturally take on the cultivation of the mind and behaviour, thus, paving the way for their attainment of the Buddha’s path through the perfection of their cultivation.
