WAYS TO MANAGE OUR TIME EFFICIENTLY TO ACCUMULATE MORE VIRTUES

Caller:  Master Lu, in one of your discourse you mentioned that in the Age of Dharma Decline, “Time is Life”.  To waste our time is to waste our lives.  It is our aim to accumulate more virtues in this short life span of ours.  How do we make use of our time most efficiently?  Master Lu, please tell us.

Master Jun Hong Lu: To manage your time efficiently, you should incessantly perform recitation, be it with your mouth or your mind.  Whatever you may be doing, always have Guan Yin Bodhisattva in your heart, saying,

“Guan Yin Bodhisattva, I did not waste my time”

“Guan Yin Bodhisattva, I am performing good deeds”

“Guan Yin Bodhisattva, I am performing compassionate deeds”

“Guan Yin Bodhisattva, I am performing recitation”.

Whatever you are doing, you should be performing recitation.  Whatever you are doing, do not waste time.  Lost time is never found again.  In the Age of Dharma Decline, for those who cultivate, time is on their side.  In contrast, for those who waste their time, they will be deprived of more time.  For that reason, you hear many complain: “What have I done to be stricken with this disease?”  “Why am I dying, I am still so young?”  But have they ever thought that age is really not a factor?  Why are there so many elderly who diligently do their recitation and they live to their ripe old age? On the contrary, why are there so many dying in their 30s lately? Many of the rich, the poor, those who did not cultivate diligently, and those who did not have the chance to encounter Dharma, etc., all passed away.  I have said it many times and let me emphasize it again, death does not happen only to the aged. Many died at an early age these days!

Caller: That’s very true, Master. Thank you very much for answering my question.
