RECITING 100,000 TIMES OF THE GREAT COMPASSION MANTRA, THE HEART SUTRA AND THE SAPTA ATITABUDDHA KARASANIYA DHARANI
Question: Master Lu has mentioned that “if we recite the Sapta Atitabuddha Karasaniya Dharani (Qi Fo Mie Zui Zhen Yan) and the Heart Sutra (Xin Jing) for more than 100,000 times, our prayers will become efficacious and wishes will be fulfilled”. Additionally, “if you make a vow to recite 100,000 times, it is particularly efficacious when you reach the target”. May I ask, is the 100,000 times of the Sapta Atitabuddha Karasaniya Dharani to be recited in addition to our daily recitation? Or can the number include our recitation for daily recitation, Little Houses and recitation for Self-Cultivation purposes?
Answer: The 100,000 times of Great Compassion Mantra (Da Bei Zhou), Heart Sutra and Sapta Atitabuddha Karasaniya Dharani could include those recited for daily recitation, recitation for Self-Cultivation purposes and Little Houses.
Question: Other than the Little Houses for our own karmic creditors, can the sutras and mantras of Little Houses for deceased person or others to be included in these 100,000 times too?
Answer: All Little Houses can be counted as long as they are related to us, including our karmic creditor, miscarried child, deceased person who appeared in our dream and the karmic creditors of our house. However, it excludes Little Houses that we recited for family members that are still alive.
Question: Do we have to make a vow of the said 100,000 times in front of an altar?
Answer: Yes, a vow has to be made in front of an altar.
Question: Do we have to set a deadline for completion? How should we say the prayer?
Answer: You should set a deadline for completion when making a vow to recite 100,000 times. You may pray for anything, for instance, with Heart Sutra, you may pray for wisdom and elimination of karmic debts and so on. With Great Compassion Mantra, you may pray for good health. With Sapta Atitabuddha Karasaniya Dharani, you may pray for elimination of calamities and karmic debts.< About Performing Recitation
