ON THE 1ST DAY OF LUNAR NEW YEAR:
REGARDING RECITATION OF GONG DE BAO SHAN SHEN ZHOU AND HOW TO MAKE THE RELEVANT PRAYER REQUEST
Caller: Master, should we recite Gong De Bao Shan Shen Zhou on the 1st day of Lunar New Year?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes. However, it would depend on how much meritorious deeds you have been performing all along. Lacking in meritorious deeds will render the recitation of this mantra ineffective. However, if you have performed a substantial amount of meritorious deeds, recitation of this mantra on the 1st day of Lunar New Year will double the meritorious blessings received.
Caller: If we decide to recite, we should do 49 times and reciting it only on that particular day should suffice?
Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right.
Caller: Do we pray for the transformation of our kind deeds into meritorious blessings or there are other ways to make our prayer request?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Just pray ‘May the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva protect and bless me <name> with boundless meritorious blessings in the new year and I will perform more meritorious deeds. May Guan Yin Bodhisattva bless and help me to transform the kind deeds that I had accumulated from my past lives into meritorious blessings, to safeguard and protect me and to enable me to stay healthy in the new year.’ Or, you may pray for other matters too.
