CRITERIA TO ASCERTAIN A PROPER DHARMA DOOR
Master Jun Hong Lu: Using Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door as an example, we may use the following three benchmarks to determine whether Guan Yin Citta is a proper Dharma Door.
No. 1 – Does Guan Yin Citta encourage everyone to be kind at all times?
No. 2 – Does Guan Yin Citta urge everyone to cultivate and uncover his innate nature, and to have a good conscience? Does Master urge everyone to eliminate greed, hatred and ignorance? Do I ask all of you to refrain from greed, resentment and any foolish act?
No. 3 – Does Guan Yin Citta guide and help everyone find liberation in the midst of ignorance and delusions? In the past, we did not understand the principles of life and were ignorant of many things. However, after learning Buddhism, aren’t we being liberated from our ignorance and delusions?
Many people are now able to think through and understand the nature of things after learning Buddhism. In Buddhism, this is called gaining the experiential understanding of the truth of the dharma.
