CAN WE PERFORM RECITATION PRIOR TO WASHING FACE AND BRUSHING TEETH?
Caller: When performing recitations, we should dress neatly and recite scriptures with reverence. Let’s say if we are to perform recitations prior to brushing teeth, washing face, or even while changing, is it considered too disrespectful? I personally feel that it is inappropriate. Please enlighten us, Master Lu.
Master Jun Hong Lu: First of all, it is improper to perform recitations while changing clothes. You may still perform recitations without washing your face or brushing your teeth by reciting silently. Nevertheless, if you could wash up before performing recitations to Bodhisattva, it goes to pay your respect to Bodhisattva.
