AN ALTERNATIVE TO STANDING UP AT THE END OF THE RECITATION OF THE EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE

Question: When we recite the Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance on board a flight, it may not be convenient to stand up at the end of each recitation. What can we do as an alternative after the three salutations at the end of the mantra?

Answer: You may put your palms together and touch your forehead with your two index fingers (first slightly above the area between the brows then move upwards slightly pointing three times). (Master Lu demonstrated this action, ‘one, two, three’ touching the lower part of his forehead and moving up). This would have the same effect as performing three prostrations and standing up.
