DO NOT THINK TOO MUCH, NEITHER SHOULD WE NOT THINK, TAKE THE MIDDLE PATH
Master Jun Hong Lu: We must learn Buddhism diligently in order to change ourselves for the better. There is no difficult task in the world, as long as we put our heart into it. Each of us exist within our thoughts, and all of us tend to think a lot. Over thinking may lead to a mental disorder; on the other hand, thinking too little may result in a lack of wisdom. So, we must practise both “thinking” and “not thinking”, so called “no thought” and “not without thought”, to reach the “Sphere of neither thought nor non-thought”.
Dwelling too much into a thought may lead to mental disorder. We may be trapped inside and unable to free ourselves from the entanglement. And we will be a fool if we choose not to think at all, as though there is something wrong with the brain. How could a person survive in this world without using the brain? It is impossible!
Neither “thinking too much” nor “not thinking” will do us any good. So, we should choose the middle path. Think only when we need to and cease thinking when it is not necessary. This is called “neither thinking nor not-thinking”.
