PRAYER REQUEST WHEN PAYING RESPECT TO ANCESTORS
Question: Some fellow practitioners would like to ask about Ching Ming Festival and the death anniversary of their ancestors. What should we say when taking out the ancestral tablets to pay our respects?
Master Jun Hong Lu: You can place the tablets on the offering table and while offering the incense, you may state the following prayer:
“Dear father, <his full name>, and mother, <her full name>, I would like to offer both of you <number> Little Houses. I hope that both of you are well, and will be able to ascend to heaven. Please bless and protect me.”
It is ultimately their decision whether to offer you their blessings and protection, but as their descendants, you should still say so.
