HOW MUCH CAN YOU FORBEAR?
Master Jun Hong Lu: First and foremost, you have to remember that there are different levels of forbearance. How much can you bear? Can you tolerate the effects of past or present life – just what is your level of tolerance?
I once told you a story about a soldier trying to open fire at an elderly monk. Using his supernatural power, the elderly monk rose high into the air in an instant, before crashing to the ground on his head, and died. Why did he do that?
Simply because he was worried that this soldier would commit the sin of killing. Even at the point of death, his thought was to save the soldier, not wanting him to commit the act of killing. Hence, he would rather take his own life.
Think about it, what is the level of tolerance are we talking about here? This is not the typical forbearance in the face of a reprimand or being beaten up – it is incomparable, don’t you think?
