(Question 220)

RECITATION OF LITTLE HOUSE IS THE FOUNDATION OF OUR PRACTICE
Caller: A fellow Buddhist friend has been practising Guan Yin Citta for some time. He has stopped performing recitation of daily homework and Little House despite him being proficient in reciting Buddhist scriptures. However, he is enthusiastic in organising life liberation activities for others, attending dharma conventions, volunteering and managing Wechat groups to share dharma teachings. How should we advise such a Buddhist friend?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Everyone bears their own karmic obstacles. Without the practice of reciting Little Houses, one’s meritorious deeds will amount to nothing very quickly. Little Houses are the foundation. As such, for a Buddhist practitioner to fall short on this practice is akin to a brick without cement, it cannot be laid to build.
