WHY ARE THERE PEOPLE SLANDERING BUDDHAS TEACHING?
Caller: Master Lu, I refer to a discourse: “I urge all practitioners to follow the right path of Dharma practice. We should not covet to the benefits and thereby depart from our roots of Dharma cultivation, built over several lifetime. Why would people who slander Buddha’s teaching? Is it out of their greed for benefits?”
Master Jun Hong Lu: There are many reasons why people are slandering Buddhas teaching; some do so out of jealousy while others did it with evil intentions. There are some who failed to achieve their objectives, over time they start to retreat from their cultivation. Depending on individual’s karmic obstacles, the act of slandering could be ignited by different mentality. Thus, when a very stubborn person thinks that his view is right, he would defend his ground strongly and will not listen to advice from anyone.
