WEAKNESSES IN CHARACTER – ARE THEY CAUSED BY KARMIC OBSTACLES FROM A PREVIOUS LIFE?
Caller: Weaknesses in one’s character, including committing unwholesome verbal act, being petty or getting jealous easily; are these considered as karmic obstacles from previous life?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It is related to both the karmic obstacles from one’s previous life and the new karma created in this life. For example, if a person is born petty by nature, the pettier he becomes, the more things will go poorly for him, and the worse things go, the pettier he becomes—forming a vicious cycle. Therefore, it is related to both his previous and present life.
Caller: Can he rely on Heart Sutra, Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance and Little Houses to resolve it?
Master Jun Hong Lu: With more recitations, one can change both destiny and character.
