THE IMPORTANCE OF CULTIVATING FORBEARANCE

Master Jun Hong Lu: In the dharma realm, forbearance can nurture blessings and kindness can nurture virtues. Forbearance is a huge vessel that is capable of navigating you through all hardships and adversities. Forbearance is an antidote that is capable of saving all sentient beings. Therefore, one who is able to forbear will become more and more noble. Subdue your mind and regard forbearance as a gem.

The Buddha says, “Now that I have attained Buddhahood, one revered by all heavens and the Three Realms of Existence, I owe it to my ability to forbear”.

In a nutshell, the Buddha is saying, “I am THE one to be revered throughout the Three Realms of Existence. That, I owe it to my cultivation of forbearance”.

Please bear this in mind: Those who are highly accomplished in life are people who are magnanimous, and those who have great magnanimity must have great endurance. Endurance is not a form of escapism; in fact, it is an accumulation of positive energy. At the right time this would be the energy that one can tap into to stave off all calamities.
