Caller: Master, you mentioned in Buddhism in Plain Terms that we have to cultivate, both spiritually and consciously, and we have to cultivate ourselves to the point of “allowing our heart to die and the primordial spirit to revive”. This will lead us to the attainment of true liberation. Could Master elaborate on this?
Master Jun Hong Lu: What is “allowing our heart to die and the primordial spirit to revive?” What do our heart die of? It is the detachment from material desire, do not be obsessed with material possessions.
Knowing that these things will never belong to you forever, you must perceive them as illusory objects. The non-pursuit of material desire represents the ascension of your spirituality. “When people have no desire, they will have a high standard of morality.”
