HOW DO WE OBSERVE CAUSES AND CONDITIONS?
Caller: One should observe causes and conditions when propagating Dharma to others. Is there a method that we can apply with regards to this?
Master Jun Hong Lu: There is definitely a method. It is through calmness that you have the ability to observe causes and conditions. If you are a calm person, that means you are someone with meditative concentration and this is the type of person who has the ability to contemplate causes and conditions.
Conversely, if you are all flustered – jumping and shouting whenever something happens, do you think you are capable of observing causes and conditions?
For example, people who are in the midst of a squabble have no clue what they are doing. However, the on-lookers are the ones who can clearly see the causes and conditions involved.
“Oh! So, this is how causality is unfolding. Both of them have been stirring things up all this while; now karma is served and they can’t hold it back any longer…”
Don’t you think these on-lookers are observing the causes and conditions?
Caller: Thank you Master for the sharing.
