A PENITENT HEART HELPS TO ELIMINATE ONE’S KARMIC OBSTACLES
Question: How are you, Master? When you give us your guidance and we immediately realise that we have erred and the sense of shame and remorse washes over us, it is right in that instance, the said disciple’s karmic obstacles will be eliminated. What about those disciples who do not have the opportunity to directly receive guidance from you? Would their karmic obstacles instantaneously be eliminated if in the course of studying Buddhism in Plain Terms and listening to Master’s discourses, it suddenly hits them that they are the ones to be blamed, rather than others and they feel ashamed and remorseful?
Answer: I can tell you without any shred of doubt that the answer is a definite yes.
Question: Thank you, Master.
Answer: Bear this in mind: Bodhisattva knows the minute you give rise to an intention and a thought. Let me repeat this: The moment a sense of shame wells up and you say, “I’ve been so wrong. I’m sorry towards my mother and father for being unkind to them in the past”. The moment such a thought strikes you, a tremendous amount of karmic obstacles will be eliminated.
