SPECIAL NOTE ON THE BIRTHDAY OF KSITIGARBHA BODHISATTVA
Question: In 2017, Master Lu mentioned that, on the birthday of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, we are allowed to offer 49 or 78 pieces of Little Houses to the deceased in the underworld and our karmic creditors respectively.
In 2019, Master mentioned that we may recite up to 49 times of the Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance (Lifo). As for the various types of Little Houses (for your karmic creditors, a miscarried child, a deceased person who appeared in your dream and the karmic creditors of your house), the total number should not exceed 49. However, for special cases, you may offer a maximum of 69. Little Houses recited for others are to be taken into account separately.
For the Birthday of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva this year (16 September 2020), what is the maximum number of Lifo we can recite and the Little Houses that we can offer?
Answer: You may recite up to 49 times of the Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance. As for the Little Houses you may offer not more than 78 pieces to your karmic creditors and the deceased respectively.
