NEGATIVE KARMA WILL BE ELIMINATED WHEN THE MIND AND BUDDHA CONNECT DURING RECITATION
Caller: In Buddhism in Plain Terms, you mentioned that “recitation can eliminate negative karma”. I’d like to know, as negative karma is being eliminated during our recitations, how do we unite the compassionate vows embodied in the Buddhist scriptures, and the state of action, speech and thought that we are in during the recitations, such that it is feasible for us to be enlightened and have our negative karma eliminated at the same time? Please advise us, Master.
Master Jun Hong Lu: It is through the “unification of our mind with the Buddha”. This occurs when your mind is filled with thoughts of the Buddha, naturally there will be Buddha in your heart. Similarly, when the Buddha’s mind is used to guide your life, it is also known as the “unification of mind with the Buddha”. Therefore, as long as you are able to unify your heart with the Buddha, unification is attained.
