BE PRUDENT IN RECITING EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE ON BEHALF OF A DECEASED PERSON
Question: While chatting with others yesterday, I talked about offering Little Houses to my late father who had passed away more than ten years ago. Then, in the night, I dreamt of someone telling me to recite the Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance for my father. My concern is whether I can do so on a daily basis as my father had committed acts of killing when he was alive.
Answer: You may recite Eighty-Eight Buddhas Great Repentance on behalf of a deceased person within 49 days of their passing on; be prudent if you do so after this 49 day period. In any case, do not perform the recitation after 3 months, otherwise all their karmic obstacles may be transferred to you. For cases like this, it is essential to offer Little Houses. You may offer three batches of Little Houses that comprises of 49 each.
