Master Jun Hong Lu: The burning of the Forest of Virtues is caused by negative flames within our heart that stem from the hatred we harbour towards others, or curses we hurl at others behind their backs.
One’s merits will deplete rapidly if he frequently curses behind others’ backs or bears hatred towards others. In short, it makes no difference, be it scolding others in person, behind their back or within one’s heart, all these will lead to a depletion of one’s merits.
