MERITS WILL BE DERIVED FROM PRINTING OF DHARMA BOOKS EVEN IF THE DISTRIBUTION IS DONE BY OTHERS

Caller: I managed to convince a few of my friends to practise Buddhism when they were at my place. They then passed me some funds for the purpose of printing dharma books which were subsequently distributed by others and not me. In this case, does it mean that I would have no merits whatsoever?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Who said so?

Caller: Well, I passed on the task of distribution to others.

Master Jun Hong Lu: Tell me how could there be no merits at all when you are the one who paid for the printing of the dharma books that were distributed by others?

After all, the printing of the books was funded by you. Consider this: those who helped distribute those books would gain merits for themselves, and even more so for you who paid for the books. Do you think your effort will go unnoticed by Bodhisattva?

You have already derived merits by paying for those dharma books, which is a form of the Giving of Wealth. The same applies to those who help distribute the books but in their case, it is an act of the Giving of Dharma.

If you also distribute those books, essentially, you are performing both the Giving of Wealth and Dharma.

Caller: Thank you very much, Master. I understand now.
