HOW CAN STUDENTS ACCUMULATE MORE GOOD FORTUNE AND WISDOM?
Caller: I read that for children to make it to university, they need to have both good fortune and blessings. What should we do to help them?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Performing recitation will increase one’s wisdom, while fortune and virtue can be gained by performing kind deeds. Let your children perform kind deeds both at home or outside. For example, let them help you to clean the house or wash the dishes which could help nurture their kindness. If they can tell their parents, “I truly appreciate the effort you made!”, their fortune and virtue will only increase. Fortune and virtue come from the kind deeds performed. When it’s time to offer incense, you may also get them to wash their hands and offer incense to Bodhisattva. Doing all these will increase their fortune and virtue.
