IS IT APPROPRIATE TO OFFER INCENSE TO BODHISATTVA AND ANCESTORS AT THE SAME TIME?

Question: I have an altar at home where I have enshrined Bodhisattva, deities and ancestors. Though I have always ensured I worship with utmost sincerity, I may have some wrongdoings which I may not be aware of, and in such cases I seek the forgiveness of Bodhisattva.

At this moment, I have enshrined a portrait of Oriental Radio’s Guan Yin Bodhisattva. When I offer the daily incense to Guan Yin Bodhisattva, can I offer incense to the deities and ancestors at the same time?

Answer: In the morning, you must first offer incense to Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Incense for ancestors is to be offered only after the oil lamp is put out.
