INTOXICANTS ROB THE CLARITY OF ONE’S MIND

Master Jun Hong Lu: Why are the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas against alcohol? Because alcohol is extremely harmful as it robs the clarity of mind and causes one to feel hopeless.

Many government departments have this common notice: Drink-driving is an offence. This demonstrates that the Buddha’s teachings are, indeed, the Right Dharma. Why is Buddhism widely acceptable and able to take root in many hearts? It is because Buddhism is a teaching that accords with propriety. Hence, its ability to garner the protection and adoration of the masses.

One must break through the confusion to become enlightened. What’s confusion? It lies in our obsessions with fame, gains, wine, sex, avarice, anger, greed, hatred and ignorance.
