ADVERTISING CONTENTS RELATED TO DHARMA PROPAGATION IS AN ACT OF THE THREE TYPES OF GIVING

Caller: Master, when making monetary donations, there are some people who would focus on channelling their funds into advertising contents that aim to help people awaken spiritually. Such advertisements usually attract more than 100,000 clicks. Would such giving be considered the Giving of Wealth, or is it also considered as the Giving of Dharma?

Master Jun Hong Lu: It encompasses the three types of Giving, namely the Giving of Wealth, Dharma and Fearlessness, as it is considered an act of saving others.

Caller: The fact that the contents he advertises are Master’s discourses, he is effectively performing the Giving of Dharma. Am I right to say so, Master?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Definitely. As long as someone turns over a new leaf after reading the advertisement, or thinks, “I am not a good person. I want to learn Buddhism”, the person who funds the advertisement will gain merits.

Caller: For example, someone puts together materials relating to the effort on dharma propagation that attract much attention. Does it mean that every time the materials are read, merits will be recorded automatically in his Book of Merits?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes.
