NURTURE A HEART OF COMPASSION BY ADOPTING A VEGETARIAN DIET

Master Jun Hong Lu: Today, I’d like to reiterate that as Buddhist practitioners, why it’s so important to be a vegetarian and avoid committing the act of killing. As a matter of fact, Bodhisattva has long told us that all sentient beings have the inherent Buddha nature in them.

What does it mean by all sentient beings? It means all living beings that possess the inherent Buddha nature.

Assuming our ancestors or potentially our descendants have committed negative karma and upon their passing, they reincarnate into an animal.

If the person is reborn as a dog that lives in your home and you decide to kill the dog, in reality, you have killed a sentient being. Bodhisattva says, “All sentient beings possess the Buddha nature in them and hence, we must treat them as a Buddha”.
