ONE SHOULD NEITHER HOLD TO THE WRONG VIEW NOR BE OBSESSED TO THE IDEA OF HOLDING TO THE RIGHT VIEW
Master Jun Hong Lu: To unleash your Buddha nature, you should not hold to the wrong views, neither should you be obsessed with the idea that you are holding on to the right view.
When you are free from the wrong views, do not even think that, “I am in the right” or “Look at me, all my life, I have never harmed anyone”.
Even for a view that is fundamentally right, when you start to think about it, that’s called grasping. Hence, to practise Buddhism is not easy. It is not right to assert stance, more so for those who have achieved a higher state of cultivation, as the challenge is even greater.
If you ask any mountain climber, those who made it to the peak, what do they rely on? They will tell you it’s ‘balance’, that is striking a balance within the body, heart and mind.
As far as the balance of mind is concerned, the inner voice will say, “I’m confident of making it to the mountain top!” As for the balance of heart, this is when they think, “I know of this person who used this method to make it to the top. I am confident that I can make it too”. As for the body, they know that when faced with gust, they should lean into it; when it rains, they should take shelter. These are the balancing efforts required to scale the mountain.
