RECITE MORE EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LIFO) AND OTHER SCRIPTURES BEFORE THE YEAR ENDS AS IT IS ABLE TO ELIMINATE SUBSTANTIAL KARMIC OBSTACLES; THINGS TO OBSERVE ON THE FIRST DAY OF LUNAR NEW YEAR
Master Jun Hong Lu: Lunar New Year is just around the corner. It is my wish that all of you practise Buddhism diligently and perform recitation. The end of the year is a time for us to settle all the outstanding trivial matters. It is best to perform more recitations before the new year, especially LIFO, as this sutra is capable of helping eliminate a lot of our karmic obstacles.
Please be diligent in your spiritual cultivation. The first day of the Lunar New Year falls on a Friday. Based on Chinese traditions, if you are involved in any argument on this day, you are bound to attract various arguments throughout the year. Similarly, if you are not happy on this first day, you may be unhappy for the rest of the year. That is why many people will take leave on the first day. They believe if they work on the first day of Lunar New Year, they may end up having to work the entire year!
