THINGS TO NOTE WHEN PAYING RESPECT TO THE DECEASED DURING LUNAR NEW YEAR

Question: When should we pay respect to the deceased in the new year? Will that be the day before the eve, the eve or the first day of Lunar New Year?

Answer: Generally, it is better to do it earlier either on the day prior to the eve or the eve of Lunar New Year. The best date is the day prior to the eve of Lunar New Year in order to avoid affecting the joyous atmosphere. You may also do so on the eve, but not during Lunar New Year.

Question: How long should we display the portrait of the deceased before putting it away?

Answer: Once the incense has burnt out, you can keep the portrait of the deceased away.
