ARE THERE KARMIC RAMIFICATIONS IF WE REGIFT ALCOHOL OR CIGARETTES?
Caller: Hi Master, it’s widely practised to exchange gifts during the festive periods as the norm of social reciprocity. Many people would typically give alcohol and cigarettes as a gift. Will there be karmic obstacles for ourselves if we regift these items to others?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It should be alright to regift those alcohol and cigarettes as long as it falls within the normal ambit of social politeness where the quantity is not large and it’s done merely as a gesture of social reciprocity.
The fact is, you did not ‘accept’ those gifts. What you did is, you gave away what others gave you. As long as it is purely an act of regifting, there’s no problem.
