THE RECITATION OF LITTLE HOUSE DEPENDS ON THE POWER OF VOW

Question: Hi Master, does the recitation of Little Houses depend on the power of a person’s vow?

Answer: Reciting the Buddhist scriptures is in itself a form of vow. Those who aim to perform recitations of good quality reflects that they are keen to transform themselves, to become a morally-upright person. In fact, when you recite the Buddhist scriptures, you are transforming your mental attitude.

For instance, to become a good person, you must keep telling yourself, “I must control my temper and become a good person”. By doing so, don’t you think you are changing the course of your destiny? This is the effect of chanting the Buddhist scriptures.

“Form is emptiness, emptiness is form” essentially means “I must understand the reality of this world and let go of my attachments. I must not let worldly afflictions dwell within me. Instead, I must be awakened and realise that they are the natural phenomena in the human realm.” Once you begin to think along this line, you will be able to think straight; it is a manifestation of your power of vow.
