POINTS TO NOTE – AS NEW YEAR APPROACHES – OFFERING OF LITTLE HOUSES UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 21 A DAY
Master Jun Hong Lu: Generally speaking, as the new year approaches, it is best to offer up to a maximum of 21 Little Houses a day, and not exceed this number during the period.
Caller: I see. Has there been a change that we can now offer a maximum of 21 Little Houses a day?
Master Jun Hong Lu: No. I meant to say that you may do so when the new year approaches, such as New Year’s Eve, the few days before Lunar New Year, etc.
Caller: How should we state our prayer request?
Master Jun Hong Lu: You can pray for blessings to keep you safe and well, and state that you will remain diligent in your spiritual cultivation. The common practice for most families during this period is paying respect to the ancestors to seek their blessings. But, as Buddhist practitioners, we can put forth the following prayer request, “May the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva bless and protect me”, just like what we say in our daily prayers.
