MAKE A VOW TO OFFER 108 LITTLE HOUSES WHEN WE ENCOUNTER A HUGE DISTRESS OR KARMIC OBSTACLE

Caller: In the recent <Journey To Heaven And The Underworld> series, Guan Yin Bodhisattva gave a discourse which says, “My child, let me tell you today, you may make a vow to recite a bigger amount of Little Houses in times of deep distress or in the face of karmic obstacles. After which, you may fulfill the recitation within a time frame you are able to cope with. Following that, you may recite and offer the Little Houses in batches of 21. This is a more effective way as compared to making vows of 21 Little Houses each time, without a definite total amount.”

There are Buddhist friends who wish to ask, in times of deep distress or in the face of karmic obstacles, in general, what should the “larger total amount” of Little Houses be?

Master Jun Hong Lu: 108 Little Houses or more.

Caller: Master, Guan Yin Bodhisattva mentioned here, “Recite and offer the Little Houses in batches of 21.” Is this 21 Little Houses to be considered as a one-off number, or does it mean we may break it into three batches of seven Little Houses each which makes up 21?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Both ways are fine.
