Caller: Master Lu, how can we identify arrogance in ourselves at its earliest stage? What are the signs of an arrogant person?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Firstly, an arrogant person tends to ignore others’ opinions. They refuse to follow along.
Caller: For example, he refuses to follow instructions when being asked to stop doing something, right?
Master Jun Hong Lu: He is the only one who is not humble among all the others. When others are sitting, he refuses to sit. When others are working on something, he refuses to follow suit. This is being arrogant and proud.
Caller: So when sharing our personal insights during the group study of Buddhism in Plain Terms, we have to be very mindful and adopt the mentality of treading on thin ice.
