THE MEANING OF “TAPPING INTO OUR INNATE BUDDHA POWER TO END THE CYCLE OF REBIRTH”

Caller: Hi Master, you once mentioned, “There are innumerable dharma methods, but to end the cycle of rebirth, we must tap into our innate Buddha power”. Citing an example, you gave a further explanation that it involves having an unwavering faith and willpower, dedicating our lives to the well-being of others and rendering assistance to them. Master, can you please specify what is meant by “tapping into our innate Buddha power to end the cycle of rebirth”?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Don’t you know the meaning of “one’s innate Buddha power”?

Caller: Is it referring to our inherent nature?

Master Jun Hong Lu: All sentient beings possess the Buddha-nature, as said by the Lord Buddha a long time ago. In this context, you bring forth this inherent Buddha-nature.

For instance, in your heart dwells a beacon of light which has never been lighted such that you are not even aware of its existence. By immediately bringing forth the light from within, it will help illuminate the road ahead, guiding every step that you take which will save you from the wrong path.

What is meant by “relying on your innate Buddha power”? When you weigh every good deed that you do with your conscience, isn’t that your inherent Buddha nature?

Caller: I got it, Master.
