Caller: As a Buddhist practitioner, how do we avoid drawing conclusions or stereotyping someone or some matters which we do not have a thorough understanding?  Is discussion involving other’s privacy and their pasts considered as an act of creating something out of nothing and creating bad karma of speech?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Exactly!  Karmic ramifications are equally heavy for creating something out of nowhere, creating bad karma of speech and when defaming others.
