RECITE MORE EIGHTY-EIGHT BUDDHAS GREAT REPENTANCE (LIFO) BEFORE CHINESE NEW YEAR’S EVE
Master Jun Hong Lu: From now on until the Chinese New Year’s Eve, those who wish to recite more Eighty-eight Buddhas Great Repentance (LIFO) may choose to do so during this period. Last night Guan Yin Bodhisattva mentioned that many people had recited many times of LIFO before the arrival of the New Year, and managed to eliminate a lot of negative karma.
Caller: So during this period, how many times of LIFO may we recite?
Master Jun Hong Lu: You may recite up to 11 times.
Caller: Guan Yin Bodhisattva is very compassionate, granting us another great opportunity to repent and eliminate our negative karma.
Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right. You must repent. Otherwise, your prayer will not be efficacious. You will not be able to gain new inspiration and wisdom.
During this period before the Chinese New Year, you need to recite many times of LIFO. It is about getting rid of the old and welcoming the new. Otherwise, you will not be able to welcome the “new”.
Caller: Master, is the LIFO recitations to repent of the mistakes we’ve made during this lifetime?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, that’s right. It’s because in this lifetime alone we have made a lot of mistakes. These mistakes bring us a lot of suffering.
Caller: In that case, are there any requirements regarding reciting the Little House? Do we have to ensure a certain amount of them weekly?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It doesn’t matter. This is a “special” situation. As such, we do not have to worry about Little House. There will not be any karmic eruption even if you are unable to recite enough Little House. Do you understand?
Caller: Yes, I understand.
Master Jun Hong Lu: You can follow this way to recite LIFO until you offer the first incense on the Chinese New Year’s Eve. Once the new year arrives, any old mistakes that you haven’t repented of will be carried forward to 2016. That is why many people’s wishes will not be fulfilled even if they pray on New Year’s Day. Their “old” negative karma has been added to the “new” one that they’ve created during year. Do you understand?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Just like when you clean up your house before the New Year’s Eve, if you don’t keep your house clean, it will still be dirty after the new year. In fact, it will get dirtier and dirtier. That is why you have to do a thorough spring cleaning—you will be able to turn over a new leaf and get lucky in the coming year.
