NEW BUDDHIST PRACTITIONERS ARE FRIGHTENED WHEN LISTENING TO THE TOTEM PROGRAM AT NIGHT, AND FEEL CHILLED WHEN RECITING

Caller:  I have helped many people to start practising Dharma.  Among them, some felt exceptionally frightened when they listen to the totem program at night; while others felt chilled all over their bodies when they first attempt to recite, causing them to flinch.  We tried to explain to them that it is due to karmic obstacles, but it seemed our energy level and power of persuasion are not strong enough to convince them.  Master Lu, could you please advise them further on this matter?

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Such circumstances occurred because there are foreign spirits on the bodies of the new Buddhist friends.  If there are foreign spirits, they will first feel chilled, and secondly, they will be scared upon hearing voices with positive energy. Those with spirits on their bodies reacted that way because spirits are afraid of human beings, don’t you know?

Caller: Yes, this had caused them to stop reciting as they experienced sense of fright when they began.

Master Jun Hong Lu:  Let me pose a question for you to ask them; if you don’t pay a visit to the hospital, you won’t know that you are unwell, can you deny the fact that you are ill?  You may ask them, why whenever they go to hospital for health assessments, they will be diagnosed with all sorts of illnesses, but remain in peak health if they do not make the trip to the hospital? Do you think they are ill?  Does it mean that if they do not visit the hospital, they will be given a clean bill of health?  Isn’t this plugging one’s ears while stealing a bell?

Caller:  Yes indeed, thank you Master Lu.
