HOW SHOULD WE DETERMINE WHETHER WE ARE BEING OVERLY ATTACHED TO THINGS?
Caller: During regular discussions of issues amongst Buddhist friends in the practice group, differing opinions may surface. In the case where either one or both parties insist upon their viewpoint, is that considered to be having attachments?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Yes, insisting on one’s viewpoint is indeed a form of attachment. One should accord with conditions instead.
Caller: How do we determine if we are being overly attached in our undertakings?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Whatever you are doing, good or bad, you are deemed to be grasping, as long as you insist on it and are unwilling to yield.
Caller: I see.
