WHY AREN’T PRAYERS ANSWERED IMMEDIATELY?
Caller: When we pray to Bodhisattva, it generally takes time for our prayers to be answered. Could it be that the meritorious blessings to pray for something or to eliminate negative karma is insufficient to eliminate the obstruction to what we pray for? Or could it be that a part of the negative karma has been eliminated but a remainder has yet to come to fruition?
Master Jun Hong Lu: This is a possible scenario. In fact, when prayer goes unanswered, it could be due to two following reasons. Firstly, the time factor. Realistically, when a seed is planted, it will not bear fruits immediately. Secondly, the germination of a seed and the pace of its growth will depend on the soil, sunshine, weather and water quality.
Caller: I understand. Am I right to say that if our meritorious blessings are able to remove a part of the impediment for our prayers to be efficacious or to eliminate our karmic obstacles, our prayers will be answered instantaneously, and our karmic obstacles will be immediately eliminated, respectively?
Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s right. That explains why some people have their prayers answered there and then.
