ON WIPING THE INCENSE BURNER FOR BETTER WEALTH LUCK

Caller: Master Lu, you mentioned that wiping the incense burner has the effect of attracting wealth. In doing so, do we have to take the incense burner down from the altar, place it on a table or can we do it on the Buddhist altar itself?

Master Jun Hong Lu: Take it down from the Buddhist altar and place it on the table to wipe.

Caller: If we only get back home past midnight, when there is no incense burning, can we take it down then?

Master Jun Hong Lu: That’s fine.

Caller: How do we say the prayer before wiping the incense burner?

Master Jun Hong Lu: “Guan Yin Bodhisattva, please have mercy on me. Please bless me with good wealth luck; I will perform more virtuous deeds”, depending what you want to pray for.

Caller: Alright. Do we need to perform recitations?

Master Jun Hong Lu: At night, recite more of the Great Compassion Mantra. During the day, recite more of the Heart Sutra.

Caller: As for Buddhist friends without Buddhist altar at home, can they offer ‘Heart Incense’ and perform the wiping of the incense burner in their mind?

Master Jun Hong Lu: They can absolutely do that.

Caller: Thank you Master Lu for answering my question.
