MASTER LU’S PORTRAIT ON THE BUDDHIST ALTAR

An Enquiry to Secretariat of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door, 12 November 2021 at 22:48

Dear staff,

Many Buddhist friends hold such fond memory of the late Master Lu that they don’t want to remove Master Lu’s portrait from the altar. May I seek clarification on the following questions:

1. Can we keep Master Lu’s portrait on the Buddhist altar for praying?
2. If the answer to the above question is positive, what should be the size of the portrait?
3. And where should the portrait be placed on the Buddhist altar?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Dear Buddhist friend,

1. You may choose to do so according to your situation.
2. The portrait size should not be larger than that of Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Nor should it be too small relative to other Bodhisattvas’ portraits on the altar.
3. Master Lu’s portrait should be placed on the far right of the Buddhist altar (facing the altar).

May you progress well along the path of practising Buddhism.

With Metta,
Secretariat
