BOTTLED WATER FOR OFFERING TO BODHISATTVA SHOULD BE DIFFERENTIATED FROM THOSE MEANT FOR PERSONAL CONSUMPTION
Caller: A fellow Buddhist practitioner usually buys a carton of bottled mineral water, and offers a brand new bottle to Bodhisattva every day. Sometimes, his family members will also take the bottled water from the carton for personal consumption. Master Lu, is it proper to do so?
Master Jun Hong Lu: It’s better to ask him to set those for offering to Bodhisattva apart from those meant for drinking. For example, if you buy a carton of 30 bottles, of which 15 bottles are meant for offering while the rest are intended for personal consumption, it will be fine as long as you label them properly.
Caller: So we have to differentiate them right?
Master Jun Hong Lu: Of course. Are you a Bodhisattva? Can you enjoy the things meant for your guests?
